The website consists of the site operated at www.sportegg.com and all associated pages and resources (in this document, referred to as “Sportegg”, “we”, “us” or “our”). Browsing or accessing the Sportegg website indicates your consent as a registered or unregistered user of Sportegg (“the user”, or “you”) to the practices described in this privacy policy (“the Privacy Policy”).
This privacy policy document is intended to explain how we collect and utilise the information you provide to us. If you have questions about how your information is used, we encourage you to contact Sportegg at support@sportegg.com. You should read this document in conjunction with our terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”), which set out the terms on which Sportegg provides services to its users.
Sportegg collects information about its users in order to provide its services, both through the collection of information knowingly provided to us by registered users, and information obtained about the browsing habits of both registered and unregistered Sportegg users through those persons’ interaction with Sportegg. We do this in order to monitor and improve our services, interact with and provide services to our registered users and to provide information to our partners.
Registered users are asked to provide Sportegg with certain items of personal information, including all the items specified in Sportegg’s sign-up form, and to specify certain user preferences related to the operation of their accounts from the “user settings” section of the site.
Whether or not you are a registered user, Sportegg may also record information reported by your browser or otherwise obtainable, including your IP address and how your browser identifies itself to us. Sportegg may also request that your browser store and permit us to access certain information about settings, preferences , browsing history and other subjects in the form of “cookies” . In particular, Sportegg uses cookies to check your login status and to track user activity anonymously.

Partners
We may collect and provide anonymous or anonymous user data to our partners, including site sponsors or advertisers. Our use of this data helps us to provide Sportegg’s services to our users free of charge and helps us to share information with you, via the site, about products and services relevant to users’ sporting interests. However, where we collect individual information from a registered user, we will never share that individual's information with a third party (including sponsors or advertisers), without that user's explicit permission.
Where you provide us with contact information, including an e-mail address, we may contact you with information or queries regarding Sportegg, but will not pass this information on to sponsors or advertisers without your consent.
Sportegg observes the requirements of the law when sharing your information, and will take all reasonable precautions to ensure only responsible third parties receive this information. Sportegg do not accept responsibility for the actions of third parties who receive the information.
Registered Users
If you are a registered user, you may provide us with information in the course of using the services we provide. For example, you may join or interact with groups or individual users, send messages or post information to the site, set up or register for events or search the site for people and topics of interest. We collect this information so that we can provide you with these services – for example, providing you with a list of your groups and contacts or the ability to send and receive messages.
We maintain registration with the Information Commissioner’s Office, and will use and retain personal data in a manner which complies with the Data Protection Act 1998 (“DPA”), including the data protection principles set out in the DPA. Where we employ contractors or other third parties in connection with operating Sportegg, we ensure that they are subject to contractual obligations with respect to your data, including to process data which they come into contact with only on our behalf and according to our instructions, and not for any other purpose.
Users should bear in mind that Sportegg is accessible from anywhere in the world. By posting information on Sportegg, whether in areas accessible to the public or only to registered users, including your contacts and selected groups, that data may, as a result, be transferred outside of the European Economic Area (“EEA”). As we cannot limit the accessibility of this data to specific geographic areas, it is a condition of your use of Sportegg that you consent to the transfer of data provided to us in this manner. We may also cause your data to be transferred outside of the EEA for processing, in which event we will ensure that the provisions of the DPA are adhered to.Content is posted to Sportegg at your own risk. Although we may implement features to protect your privacy as a user, we do not guarantee that these measures will completely protect your privacy or the security of the information. Other users’ actions are not under our control, and even where content is retricted or removed, cached or downloaded copies of your content may remain available to others. Use of your data in a manner which violates our terms and conditions may be reported to us at support@sportegg.com.
Users should be aware that Sportegg may also collect information about them from other public and private sources of information, including other Sportegg users, our sponsors and commercial partners, news services and event/competition organisers. This is used in order to provide our services – for example, sharing the results of events and competitions, sharing information with your group members or contacts.
Your Profile as a Registered User
Registration with Sportegg results in the creation of a user profile which will contain certain information about you. We use some of this information to match clubs and groups to your interests and location. Details of the information contained in your profile and how to manage it can be found on your user settings page.
Sportegg may, in addition, be required to disclose personal information where we believe, in good faith, that doing so is required by the law or in order to comply with court orders or legal process. We may disclose other account information or information controlled by us for these reasons, to protect our interests, to prevent a violation of the law or to prevent harm to others.
Should ownership or control of Sportegg change during the period of use of a user account, the current existing version of this privacy policy will continue to govern how your data is used.
Linking and Sponsorship
Sportegg or its users may post links to other sites and external resources. Users should be aware that Sportegg cannot be responsible for how other sites collect and use their data.
Sportegg does not currently use banner or interstitial advertising. Our services may be supported by sponsors interested in being associated with particular sports or activities associated with their business or of interest to their customers. No personally identifiable information is shared with our sponsors, but aggregated user data and other anonymous information may be shared with sponsors and potential sponsors to facilitate their involvement.
Terms and Conditions, Policy Changes
We may change our Privacy Policy from time to time, and will make up to date versions available on Sportegg accordingly. We may also e-mail our registered users where we believe changes to our policies make it appropriate to do so.
Use of Sportegg is subject to the Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions (which should be read in conjunction with the Privacy Policy and which governs the statements made here). Unless we specifically notify you otherwise, changes to the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions will take effect from the date we post the updated documents on Sportegg, and we will not be required to notify you in advance of any changes to these documents.
